Personal Code of Ethics

Positive Change is Possible

My family takes center stage in my life. It is because of my daughter’s that I strive every day to lead by example. Morally and ethically, I strive every day to operate in a manner that continuously demonstrates my commitment to diversity, honesty, respect, discipline, and helping others. I firmly believe that actions do speak louder than words. It does not matter as much what we say, it is the positive or negative example that we set for others that gets remembered.

I believe in owning my mistakes and trying my best to learn from them. Each and every one of us is human. The most unconstructive belief a person can have is to believe that they are not flawed in some manner. However, the strongest and most successful individuals are those that accept their mistakes, reflect on them, and continuously strive to better themselves.

I am passionate about promoting diversity. Only by embracing diversity can we challenge negative stereotypes and biases about different groups. When we open our hearts and minds to new ways of thinking, living, and believing, we open the door to cooperation and understanding. It is through cooperation and understanding that bridges of trust, respect, and understanding across cultures are created.

Principles and Values that Guide Me

  • Discipline – I try my best to follow the holistic self-care plan that I have developed for myself in order to help keep me focused and balanced in my daily life.

  • Beneficence – I try my best to make a difference in my community and with individuals that I interact with.

  • Nonmaleficence – I try my best to avoid causing harm and discomfort to others as much as possible.

  • Equity and Justice – I try my best to treat everyone with the same level or dignity, courtesy, sincerity, and compassion no matter what their race, ethnicity, gender, gender identification, age, sexual orientation, marital status, language, or socioeconomic status.

  • Commitment – I take my responsibilities seriously and try my best to honor my commitments and promises as this is the cornerstone of trust.

  • Veracity – I try my best to be truthful and honest with any individual I interact with, whether it is in professional capacity or personal one.

  • Peace – I try my best to promote friendship and harmony in all of my interactions. We all have elements of commonality that can be used to foster understanding, tolerance, and acceptance of others despite our differences.
